Safe Steps
Hello! Welcome to Safe Steps for Girls. Here at Safe Steps, we strive to ensure that each woman has access to help in the case of sexual assault.
Many women are unaware of things that require attention from a trained professional. For example, if you ever feel like you have been in a situation in your home or workplace where you have felt like your body or your autonomy has been violated, you should always feel free to reach out to a trusted person. These include teachers, parents, older siblings, or relatives. Remember, you should not feel ‘embarrassed’ or ‘silly’ for reaching out – it is not your fault that someone else has disrespected you and you should not be held accountable for someone else’s actions.
Secondly, if you feel unable to find someone who you can trust - you can always reach out to a medical professional at your local hospital. Medical professionals are trained to be able to assist you - either by directing you to an organization that can help - or by ensuring that you are physically safe.
Additionally, if you do not have the resources to reach out to a medical professional, many counselors are available locally who will listen to your problems and then guide you in taking actions for your next steps and will aid you in deciding who to contact next.
Finally, if you are located in Kerala, India, there is an organization, namely, the Pink Police Patrol who are a women - led police organization with the sole mission of ensuring the safety of other women. They will be more than happy to assist you using resources, or redirecting you to non - profit organizations that will accept you with open hands. They can be contacted via their website: https://keralapolice.gov.in/page/pink-police-patrol

If you are curious in how you can help: Always be sure to support anyone you know that is going through a tough time by being there to talk to them or advising that they talk to a trusted contact. Additionally, if you are in a situation with someone else and wondering what the right thing to do is, remember the following:
-
Consent must be given between each interaction with someone - ie. Consent once, does not mean consent forever
-
Each state and each country has different laws regarding consent so be sure stay updated with your local rules and regulations
-
No always means no - it doesn't mean to ask again and its not an invitation to convince them to say yes.
-
Consent cannot be given when someone is under the influence
